About West Lothian Council Archives

This blog is run by West Lothian Council and Archives  Centre. The Archives Centre preserves and makes accessible records relating to the history of the county of West Lothian in Scotland. The archival holdings date from the 16th century to the present day and include the records of West Lothian Council and its predecessor organizations, the Livingston Development Corporation archive, poor law records and a number of private deposits, including the records of Bathgate Forge Ltd.

We are open to the public Monday to Thursday: 9am - 12pm and 2pm - 5pm, Friday: 9am - 12pm and 2pm - 4pm.  Everyone is welcome to use the Archives and Records Centre and access to the archives is free.  Records can be consulted in the public search room and staff are available to assist with enquiries.
